Though Saint Francis Home Project was mooted in 1993, it was delayed for reasons beyond its control and it took off only in 2006 with the launch of Community Based Rehabilitation Programme. Our CBR team consisting the Speech Therapist and Occupational therapist with supporting staff reached professional help to the children with special needs living in the remote regions of the district. Within the span of one year, our CBR team managed to provide regular therapy and rehabilitation services to more than one hundred and thirty children living in thirty one villages. A number of medical camps for the disabled were held and Disability Certificates were issued for the deserving children. Special seminars and awareness courses were conducted so that the people in the field might be able to identify children with special needs and persuade the parents seek professional help.
